Werner Herzog who is known for a wide range of work in directing, writing and acting, is reportedly in talks with Disney to play a role in Marvel Studios’ new series Wonder Man for Disney Plus. Herzog also starred in Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian as The Client in three episodes of the first season of the Star Wars spinoff series.
This new report comes from the well-known industry insider Daniel Richtman shortly after the most recent Wonder Man report that actor Demetrius Grosse has reportedly signed on to the project to play Marvel’s version of the Grim Reaper, also known as Eric Williams, brother of Wonder Man himself Simon Williams. Richtman’s new report states that “Werner Herzog is in talks for a role in Wonder Man. No other details on his role.”, with no other information provided about the potential Marvel Studios casting.
Everything We Know So Far About Wonder Man
Wonder Man will officially be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will feature Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, an actor from Hollywood who obtains superpowered abilities and is rapidly thrown into the world of superheroes with his very own brother being his arch-nemesis, in the comics at least. Details on the live-action series for Disney Plus are being kept tightly under wraps, leaving fans to speculate and read reports such as this one until future and official announcements are made by Disney and Marvel Studios themselves.
This latest report should only be considered a rumour until comment or an official announcement is made by the cast and crew of Wonder Man, however, Werzog would make a worthy addition to the MCU and provide such a unique voice to the universe, literally. Ed Harris has also been rumoured to be attached to the new MCU series, which will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams and see the return of Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery who has now appeared in several MCU projects.
