HBO’s ‘The Last Of Us’ premiered its first episode on the 15th of January, two days ago as of writing this, and if you were among the thousands watching – you might be asking why so many cast members looked so familiar. The impressive list of cast members from the show will all be known by many from previous projects, but which ones?
Well, if you’re asking yourself this question, look no further as we have compiled a full list of every main actor from the series plus which projects you will most likely have seen them in prior to watching the show. Everyone from Nico Parker, who plays Sarah in the first episode, all the way to Brendan Fletcher’s Robert – we’ve got it covered.

Pedro Pascal (Joel)
It will come as no surprise that Pedro Pascal’s impressive list of works will be the most known by the viewers of The Last Of Us, with leading roles in projects such as The Mandalorian, Wonder Woman 1984, and so much more. Pascal has starred in over a dozen well-known projects, playing Whiskey in Kingsman: The Golden Circle and as Oberyn Martell in the hit series Game Of Thrones.
It’s safe to say that Pedro Pascal has an extremely successful career in show business, coming in strong this year with both The Last Of Us and the third series of The Mandalorian coming on March 1st.
Bella Ramsey (Ellie)
Bella Ramsey stars as Ellie in HBO’s new series, she played Lyanna Mormont in Game Of Thrones, making her fellow alumni to Pedro Pascal in two major tv shows now.
Ramsey may be known by some of you as Mildred Hubble from the UK series The Worst Witch or maybe you saw her when she starred in Prime Video’s 2022 film Catherine Called Birdy. She also had roles in His Dark Materials, Hilda, and in the 2018 Will Ferrel comedy Holmes & Watson.
Nico Parker (Sarah)
If you watched the 2019 remake of Disney’s Dumbo, which starred Colin Farrell, you may recognise Nico Parker as Farrell’s character’s Daughter Milly Farrier.
Parker has mainly appeared in only a hand full of projects so far since her breakout role in the Dumbo film, having roles in titles such as the 2021 film Reminiscence and The Third Day.
John Hannah (Dr. Neuman)
If you’re a die-hard John Hannah fan, you will have either known of his involvement in the series prior to watching or recognised him instantly just as many others did during the premiere.
John Hannah has an impressive collection of work to his name, from being a main character in the Brendan Fraser The Mummy franchise to even starring in Four Weddings and a Funeral alongside Hugh Grant.
Merle Dandridge (Marlene)
Marlene is a well-known character from both the game adaptation and now live-action series adaptation of The Last Of Us, but did you know that Merle Dandridge plays this character in both versions?
That’s right, Merle Dandridge plays Marlene in both game and live-action form, with a countless history in the gaming industry with performances in hits such as Half-Life and the recent tv series Station 19.
Gabriel Luna (Tommy)
Gabriel Luna plays Uncle Tommy in the live-action The Last Of Us, brother to the lead character Joel, with credits to his name such as Terminator: Dark Fate and even being a part of the Marvel universe.
You can watch Gabriel Luna as Marvel’s Ghost Rider in the Avengers spin-off series Agents Of Shield or in films such as Jack Black’s Bernie and Transpecos.
Anna Torv (Tess)
Only one person can come across as being tougher than Joel himself, and that would be his on-and-off love interest Tess who is played by Anna Torv in the live-action series.
This isn’t Anna Torv’s first rodeo in the gaming universe, not that the live-action series is a game, with credits such as Nariko in the game Heavenly Sword. You can also watch Torv in the Mindhunter series or maybe you’ve seen her in The Secret Life Of Us – one thing is for sure, after watching this, you’re going to be a fan for life.
Jeffrey Pierce (Perry)
Gabriel Luna might be playing the live-action Uncle Tommy, but fellow star Jeffrey Pierce who plays Perry actually played Tommy in the game series! Jeffrey Pierce’s voice has been heard by millions of gamers, through countless playthroughs, for many years and has now played another part altogether for the HBO Max series.
You may have also seen or heard of Jeffrey Pierce in projects like Call Of Duty: WW2, the tv series Bosch, The Last Of Us Part I & Part II, plus many more in his vast history of work.
Nick Offerman (Bill)
Whether it was Parks and Recreation, The Great North, or the countless memes online; you’ve definitely seen Nick Offerman at some point in your life; unless you’ve been offline until coming across this article.
Nick Offerman’s role as the iconic Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation solidified his mark in pop culture history, starring alongside comedy legends such as Amy Poehler and Aziz Ansari.
Lamar Johnson (Henry)
Lamar Johnson’s acting career has only become more prominent over the years, starring in projects such as the tv series The Next Step and Your Honor.
Johnson plays Henry in the live-action series, a character also well-known from the game adaptation, and will most likely go down in history to those who watch the show.
Murray Bartlett (Frank)
For those of you who have played the game series, you will surely remember Frank, who is played by Murray Bartlett in the live-action series.
You may have seen Murray Bartlett in projects such as The White Lotus, Nashville, or maybe August and you will now get to watch him as Frank in multiple episodes of The Last Of Us.
