One question on a lot of Spidey fans’ minds is which Spider-Man universe Sony’s Kraven the Hunter exists in. Seeing that there are multiple to choose from such as Tom Holland’s universe, Andrew Garfield’s universe, and Tobey Maguire’s universe.
Not to mention the fact that Sony has yet to officially confirm which Spider-Man Universe Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius movies exist in. The two Spidey spinoffs have been previously said to exist in the same universe.
Does Kraven Exist In Andrew Garfield’s Universe?
It’s unlikely that Sony’s Kraven the Hunter played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson exists within Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man Universe.
This is primarily due to the fact that a cross-species Rhino has been confirmed to be in the upcoming Kraven flick and is played by actor Alessandro Nivola.
The Rhino already exists in Garfield’s Universe and was played by Paul Giamatti. His Rhino was also a normal everyday human inside a mech-Rhino suit.
Essentially confirming that Johnson’s Kraven does not exist in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man universe, sorry Andrew Garfield fans.
Which Spider-Man Universe Does He Belong In?
Firstly, it has yet to be confirmed by the cast and crew of Kraven the Hunter as to which Spider-Man Universe he officially belongs in.
It has previously been theorised that Tom Hardy’s Venom universe is the same as Garfield’s Spider-Man universe. If so, this would rule out Johnson’s Kraven being a part of this universe as previously mentioned.
It could also be possible that this version of Kraven exists in a completely new Spider-Man Universe. Hopefully, more answers are provided upon the movie’s release later this year. Could this be the first Sony and MCU Spider-Man movie from Sony’s side?
Will Johnson’s Kraven end up fighting Tom Holland’s Spider-Man? It’s just too early to tell, however, this notion would sure be surprising as the two studios have been known to be quite separate when it comes to Spidey movies besides No Way Home.
One thing’s for sure and that is that No Way Home has essentially made the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon to the Sony Spider-Man multiverse. So it’s safe to assume that they have more plans to merge their stories, such as the highly anticipated meeting between Holland’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock / Venom.
Sony’s Kraven the Hunter releases in theatres on October 6, 2023.
