Scream 6 has officially been playing in theatres worldwide since March 10, revealing to those who have seen the movie who the new Ghostface killers are, with some major surprises and twists attached to their motives. This new instalment into the Scream franchise is officially the sixth sequel to the original movie from 1997, changing all the familiar rules of the saga for the first time, creating a brand new fresh take on the story but still staying true to Ghostface.
It is well known in the Scream fandom that there is typically more than one Ghostface, with the exception of Scream 3 only having one killer which was ambitious and has even been made fun of via meta dialogue in the sequels. Spoilers: There are a total of four Ghostface killers in Scream VI, one of which is just a mere copycat, played by Tony Revolori, who is killed off by one of the true Ghostface killers during the opening of the movie. However, there are three main killers in this new instalment of the franchise, all of which share the same motive, and break the movie’s rules – keep reading to see who they are and why they wear the mask.
Who Are The Killers In Scream 6, What’s The Motive?

The three main Ghostface killers of Scream VI are made up of Dermot Mulroney’s Detective Bailey, Liana Liberato’s Quinn Bailey, and Jack Champion’s Ethan Landry. However, it is revealed during the final act of the movie that their identities are just an alias, surprising viewers with the final revelation being that all three are directly related to Jack Quaid’s Richie Kirsch who was the main antagonist in Scream 5, also known as Scream.
Detective Bailey is revealed to be Richie Kirsch’s father, with Quinn and Ethan being Richie’s brother and sister, confirming that they changed their family surname to “Bailey” to remain hidden after Richie’s killings in Scream 5.
Their main motive is to simply seek revenge on Samantha Carpenter, played by Melissa Barrera, due to Sam killing Jack Quaid’s Richie Kirsch during the final act of Scream 5. Despite the fact that Sam was merely protecting herself, and her sister Tara who is played by Jenna Ortega, from Kirsch’s killing spree during their time in Woodsboro.
It is also revealed that Richie’s father, Detective Bailey, encouraged Richie Kirsch’s obsession with Ghostface and Billy Loomis, even building a shrine of Ghostface evidence for his deranged son. Detective Bailey foreshadows he is the killer multiple times throughout the movie, which becomes evidently clear when you watch it for a second time, with one scene even featuring Detective Bailey explaining that he will kill anyone that messes with his family, which he says directly to Sam Carpenter, becoming clear during the finale.
