Melissa McBride will no longer be reprising her ‘TWD’ role in the Daryl-Carol spinoff series, which was not long ago announced. Rumors had been circulating on the web for a little while now. However, AMC has now officially confirmed the news. Stating that the show will now focus on Daryl primarily. Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon is now set to lead the show, no update on its synopsis though.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Talking about rumors, Rick Grimes has recently been tipped to return for Season 11 of the hit show. We at CoveredGeekly.com recently acquired intel from an inside source that Andrew Lincoln filmed some stuff for the final season. Which some theorized to possibly be for a post-credits scene that would tie into the upcoming movies. We will be covering more on this throughout the upcoming weeks.
Why Is Melissa McBride Leaving TWD?
Melissa McBride’s Carol will no longer be appearing in her own spinoff series, at all, according to Scott Gimple.
Here’s what the team behind the show had to say.
“Unfortunately, she is no longer able to participate in the previously announced spin-off focused on the Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier characters, which will be set and filmed in Europe this summer and premiere next year. Relocating to Europe became logistically untenable for Melissa at this time. We know fans will be disappointed by this news, but ‘The Walking Dead’ Universe continues to grow and expand in interesting ways and we very much hope to see Carol again in the near future.”
So Melissa McBride hasn’t been booted or done a runner, it is all due to where the show is being filmed. This hasn’t ruled out a future return though as confirmed in the quote above, just not for that spinoff specifically. We will most likely be seeing Carol again one day, as long as AMC keeps producing more shows from this universe. This seems very likely as they haven’t shown any sign of stopping.
