Filming on the project had yet to start reportedly due to the current and ongoing WGA writers’ strike. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the movie’s script is in need of additional work.
While the writers’ strike continues, changes to scripts just won’t be happening along with writing in general. El Muerto isn’t the only movie or TV series to be delayed or postponed due to the current strike.
It has also been noted that Bad Bunny’s touring schedule may be another factor in the release date being put on ice for now. It’s currently unclear how long Bad Bunny can remain attached to the project. Unless Sony and Bad Bunny just plan on leaving it postponed until all is back to normal.
Due to the plot and character details being kept under wraps on El Muerto. It’s unclear how vital to the overall Sony Spider-Man Universe the story will be. It may not be planned to have much of an impact on its fellow SSU stories but on the other hand, it might be.
Updates on the title aren’t expected to be announced by Sony until after the writers’ strike finds a resolution. Stay tuned for more information.
