The new horror series ‘The Rig’ from Prime Video has been streamable for three days now, with many fans online already calling for a second season. Each episode can both grasp your attention for every second and entice you to carry on to the next, with great performances and storytelling throughout the series.
Despite the almost hour-long batch of six episodes only being available to stream for one weekend so far, it seems that many subscribers of the platform have already finished the whole of the first season. So, will Prime Video be continuing the story, or has the show said everything it wanted to say?
Does ‘The Rig’ Need A Second Season?
You could argue that the story could be concluded in one season if you’re a fan of stories not having the fairy tale ending where protagonists come out on top that is. One point of the show’s plot is that we have essentially ticked off our planet by digging and using up loads of its natural resources – which is hurting our planet.
This is something that is brought up throughout the show by multiple characters, which is evidently clear when you consider what “The Ancestor” is trying to achieve. Earth, our planet, seems to have a defence mechanism to reset everything by initiating a mass extinction event to heal the planet and stop the attackers; us.
However, with that being said, the show definitely has a very high potential for a second season to continue the powerful messaging behind the story. Season one’s final episode perfectly sets up for another chapter, leaving plenty of questions that need to be answered for those now waiting.
What People Are Saying About ‘The Rig’
See what some fans are saying below, and just keep in mind that there is a mass amount of online messages from fans hoping for a second instalment.

While also exclaiming delight in “Scottish Accents” due to the majority of the characters being Scottish as ‘The Rig’ was entirely filmed and is set in Scotland.
Take these examples and multiply them by 100 or more as this seems to be the general opinion from those who have binged the first season of ‘The Rig’.
When Will Season Two Be Released?
Sadly, no official announcements from Prime Video have been made as of yet for a second series, but if the incredibly positive response continues; it surely won’t be long until we hear some good news. It’s definitely safe to say that fans of the first season, so far, are more than interested in seeing where the story will go next.
