Season 2 Production Update
Cal Dodd, who voices Wolverine in X-Men ’97 (and also voiced Logan in the original animated series!, went on Twitter to share some good news with fans. The tweet was captioned “Yesterday. Studio. Season 2. GREAT session!”, and tagged Disney+, along with Wolverine and X-Men hashtags.
“Yesterday. Studio. Season 2. GREAT session!”
Dodd shared a video, in which he implied that “just the beginning” of Season 2 of X-Men ’97 had started production.
“Cal Dodd, voice of Wolverine from ‘X-Men ’97.’ The beginning of Season 2, I say, just the beginning. Strap your seatbelts on, bub. Later.”
Although the tweet was deleted soon after, you can view the video below:
The series was previously confirmed to have a second season on development at last year’s San Diego Comic Con.
Season 1 Release Update

In response to a tweet by @XMenUpdate on Twitter, which stated that X-Men ’97 was still tentatively scheduled to release on Disney+ this fall, producer and head writer Beau DeMayo sent a “winking face” emoji, suggesting that the tweet’s assumption was correct.
Previously, the writer also tweeted “Trust me, I’d be the first to say something if something changes.”
While we don’t know the exact context behind this tweet, this could possibly be in response to The Hollywood Reporter‘s claim of Loki Season 2 and Secret Invasion behind the only “sure bets” to release on Disney Plus this year. This would mean that X-Men ’97 is still on track to debut on Disney Plus during Fall this year!
This Is only one of the several developments we’ve seen ever since Kevin Feige spoke to Entertainment Weekly about his learning experience with MCU shows.
“We want Marvel Studios and the MCU projects to really stand out and stand above. So, people will see that as we get further into Phase 5 and 6. The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change so they can each get a chance to shine.“

Admittedly, the past few months have reportedly been troubling in Marvel Studios’ animation department, with cutbacks, layoffs and development of some titles being put on hold. This led to the second season of What If…? being delayed, and we still don’t have an update on that.
Hopefully, the announcement of Season 2 means that other shows will also be back on track to release.
