Famous voice actor Yuri Lowenthal who is known for voicing roles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Naruto’s Sasuke Uchiha has spoken out on who he’d love to see join NetherRealm’s upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 game as DLC characters.
Lowenthal voices the iconic Mortal Kombat character known as Smoke in NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming instalment to their famous fighting game franchise.
Mortal Kombat 1 is already set to debut DLC characters such as Homelander from The Boys, J. K. Simmons’ Omni-Man from Invincible, and John Cena’s DC character Peacemaker, among various others in the first Kombat Pack.
As of writing, as to who will be included in the second Kombat Pack has yet to be revealed, leaving fans speculating who the studio plans on debuting next.
As mentioned, the actor has voiced many iconic roles, two of which were part of a Mortal Kombat-related question while he was at San Diego Comic-Con to promote Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Yuri Lowenthal Wants Spider-Man & Sasuke In Mortal Kombat 1
Lowenthal was asked at the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con to share his thoughts on how he would think “Spider-Man and Sasuke would fair in Mortal Kombat”.
To which he responded: “I would love to see them included as Kameo characters,” Kameos being the game’s side roster of unplayable characters that can assist you during fights.
However, the voice actor continued to say that it would be interesting to see Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni-Man face off against Sasuke.
“That would actually be really cool,” he told the interviewer at SDCC.
Spider-Man & Sasuke’s Mortal Kombat 1 Fatalities
During the same interview at SDCC, Lowenthal spoke about his thoughts behind potential Spider-Man and/or Sasuke Mortal Kombat 1 fatalities, and how they would be “interesting”.
He said: “You’d get some interesting and new fatalities, I’m sure.”
Suggesting that he’d also like to see the two characters join the video game series as playable characters, not just as Kameo characters as suggested nearer the beginning of his response.
Yuri Lowenthal Doesn’t Think Spider-Man Would “Kill” In Mortal Kombat
While concluding his response in the aforementioned interview, Lowenthal pointed out that “he doesn’t think” that Spider-Man would “kill anyone”, stating that Spider-Man just “wouldn’t be able to do it”.
He concluded: “I don’t think Spider-Man would kill anyone, that’s just not his style.”
Suggesting that although a Marvel Vs. DC game has long been hoped for within the fighting game community, characters who don’t tend to kill people just don’t fit well in the Mortal Kombat tournament.
