Zack Snyder (Justice League) is looking to expand the Rebel Moon Universe with a prequel animated series and comic book series.
Rebel Moon is a two-part epic space opera film directed by Zack Snyder. The first part will receive a limited theatrical release this December.
Zack Snyder revealed in the latest issue of Total Film(Via GamesRadar) that an animated Rebel Moon series and comic book series set before the events of the upcoming Rebel Moon are actively in the works.
Also, a four-issue prequel comic series titled Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe, penned by Magdalene Visaggio and illustrated by Clark Bint, will be released under Titan Comics on January 10, 2024.

“I’m the gatekeeper for what’s possible. I’m the only one who knows where the whole story is going, and I do have it mapped all the way. We’re doing a narrative podcast, and an animated comic book, and an animated series. They all take place before the events of the movie. So you can start to understand the vastness of the mythology that we’ve been working on.”
Rebel Moon World is ‘Fleshed Out’
According to co-writer Kurt Johnstad of Rebel Moon, the Rebel Moon world is incredibly rich in details. So, viewers can expect a deeper storyline, interconnected plots, and a great deal of excitement.
“The world is very, very detailed and fleshed out. There are hundreds and hundreds of pages of documents of methodology and mythology and lore. The timeline goes back 800 years, from our movies.”
Rebel Moon films revolve around a colony situated in the far reaches of the galaxy that is threatened by the armies led by the tyrannical regent Belisarius, played by Ed Skrein. In a desperate move, the colonists dispatch a young woman, played by Sofia Boutella, to seek help from warriors on other planets in their battle against the oppressive forces.
The cast includes notable actors such as Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Michiel Huisman, Jena Malone, Cary Elwes, Ray Fisher, Corey Stoll, Alfonso Herrera, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Kingston Foster, Ingvar Sigurdsson, Fra Fee, Staz Nair, and features the voice of Anthony Hopkins.
Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire drops in theaters on December 15, 2023, before its debut on Netflix on December 22.
Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver is scheduled to be released on April 19, 2024.
