Lady Gaga's upcoming film Joker: Folie À Deux is one of the most eagerly awaited releases of the year. In the sequel to 2019's Joker, Lady Gaga stars as Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix's Joker.
In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Lady Gaga revealed that her portrayal of Harley Quinn is unique and unlike any previous versions of the character.
During the chat, Lady Gaga said, “You know my version of Harley is mine and it's very authentic to this movie and these characters.”
She further continued, “I've never done anything like I've done in this movie before, so it's all going to be completely brand new and really fun.”
The sequel, which is an Elseworlds story and not part of the new DC Universe, picks up with Arthur Fleck incarcerated at Arkham Asylum.
Although plot details are limited, the film is expected to follow the style of a jukebox musical.
Last month, Warner Bros released the first teaser trailer for the sequel. In the trailer, Gaga's Harley Quinn confesses to Arthur that she admires him for achieving much more in life than she has.
She then encourages him to escape from prison, and together they embark on a wild, musical journey.
The film's cast also features Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lotte.
Todd Phillips directed the sequel from a screenplay penned by himself and Scott Silver.
Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to hit theaters on October 4, 2024.
