Oliphaunts, massive creatures resembling elephants, are reportedly set to appear in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2.
These huge, four-legged creatures, known as Mûmakils in Tolkien's lore, are described as being related to real-life elephants but are not exact replicas.
As per a rumour from the fansite Fellowship of Fans, Tolkien's massive Mûmakils will feature in the upcoming Rings of Power season.
The details mention The Stranger possibly encountering another magic wielder and becoming crucial in resisting Sauron.
Amidst the story's major reveals, there's a tidbit stating, “Mumakhils/ Oliphaunts are creatures internally listed in the production for #TheRingsOfPower Season 2”.
These creatures are depicted as being bred for war and achieving legendary status due to their formidable presence on the battlefield.
Season 2 of The Rings of Power will reportedly feature a colossal two-episode battle, expected to be one of the largest battles ever shown on TV.
This battle will reportedly depict the siege of Eregion, an important event in J.R.R. Tolkien's work, where Sauron launches an assault on the Elvish realm of Eregion, resulting in its destruction and the theft of most of the Rings of Power.
The Rings of Power series is set thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
The series explores the important events of Middle-earth's Second Age, such as the forging of the Rings of Power, the ascent of the Dark Lord Sauron, the downfall of the island realm of Númenor, and the alliance between Elves and Men.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is expected to premiere on Prime Video later in 2024.
