Evangeline Lilly has provided a positive update on Jeremy Renner, following his snow plow accident on January 1st that broke 30 of Renner’s bones. Speaking to Access Hollywood, Lilly confirmed that she visited Renner after his accident to check on how he was doing, but ended up being shocked at how far he had progressed.
“I walked in his house and got chicken skin because I was like, ‘Why are you mobile? Why are you mobile?” is what Lilly told Access Hollywood when thinking back to first seeing Renner after his accident. Lilly continues to talk about what her initial expectations were when on her way to the house.
“I expected to sit at his bedside and hold his hand while he moaned and groaned in pain and wasn’t able to move. He was wheeling himself around, laughing with his friends. It’s a miracle. It’s a straight up miracle. He’s made of something really tough that guy.”
Evangeline Lilly and Jeremy Renner co-starred together in Hurt Locker, where they played husband and wife, remaining friends ever since. They are also both a part of Marvel Studios’ Cinematic Universe, with Evangeline Lilly as the MCU’s Hope van Dyne aka the Wasp, and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
Evangeline Lilly also offered her thoughts on how she felt when hearing about Jeremy Renner’s accident, stating that she has moments where she thinks about what Renner would have gone through during the ordeal.
“It was really intense. I mean, he had a near death experience that was highly traumatic, and he was awake for the whole thing. I’m still having moments where some of the stuff he told me that he experienced and retelling me the story of what went on and the things he could hear and the things that he could see.”
Lilly shows genuine concern and sympathy for Jeremy Renner during the interview with Access Hollywood, as she is clearly shaken up when bringing up the topic of what her friend would have had to go through.
“He’s got a journey to go through now, I mean you don’t go through, that’s like, it’s what nightmares are made out of, and he lived through it, and he’s on the other side now.”
