Final Destination star Devon Sawa still has a big love for the death-defying franchise more than 20 years after bringing his popular protagonist to life.
The Canadian actor played Alex Browning, a firm fan-favourite, in the first of five films.
His character was killed off-screen prior to the 2003 sequel due to scheduling conflicts.
With the sixth instalment currently in pre-production, Sawa shared his thoughts on the franchise that left generations terrified of planes, log trucks and rollercoasters.
In response to a fan on X (formerly Twitter), the 45-year-old said: “It's an incredible franchise that keeps hiring the best new young talent in the business.”
Though no casting announcements have been made public as of January 2024, Sawa teased “the hairs on my arm stuck straight up” after one cast member informed him of their involvement.
“I know one of the actors on the new film and when they told me they were on it, the hairs on my arm stuck straight up,” added Sawa, known for his roles in Casper and Idle Hands.

In September 2022, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein were announced as co-directors for the project.
And like fans, Sawa is awaiting its release.
He shared: “I'd buy my ticket to 6 now if I could. Gonna be incredible.”
The latest addition to the franchise marks the first Final Destination movie in over a decade.
Final Destination 5 was released in 2011.
It featured archive footage of Sawa's Alex as he was escorted from the ill-fated Flight 180 following the iconic premonition that kickstarted a deadly chain of events.
Fans revelled in the shock twist that revealed the film to be a prequel.
During an interview with Collider, Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddrick explained he had hoped Alex would have become the franchise's “torch-bearer.”
Reddick originally planned for both Sawa and co-star Ali Larter, who played Clear Rivers, to reprise their roles, but “issues with scheduling” prevented Sawa from returning.
Larter was the only original cast member to appear in the subsequent sequel.
Nevertheless, the 45-year-old Nikita actor has gone on to cement himself as a horror legend with roles in Casper, Idle Hands and The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
Since 2021, Sawa has starred in Syfy and USA Network's Chucky, a follow-up series set within the Child's Play universe.
Final Destination 6 has not yet announced a release date.
