To have a phobia is to have an irrational fear reaction to something such as confined spaces, spiders, and clowns – just to name a few.

Although some phobias are common, others are considered a little bit more bizarre, with some celebrities even having some that are unheard of.

With that said, in this list, we’ll be diving into 10 famous celebrities who have admitted which strange phobia they have, starting with…

#1 Christina Ricci (Plants)

Ricci admitted she has Botanophobia, which is an intense fear of plants.

“They are dirty, if I have to touch one, after already being repulsed by the fact that there is a plant indoors, then it just freaks me out.” She told British Esquire.

#2 Megan Fox (Paper)

Whilst talking to American TV host Jimmy Fallon, Transformers star Megan revealed her weird phobia.

“Some people don’t like nails across a chalkboard because it gives them goosebumps.”

“I don’t like dry paper. Scripts, newspapers or anything that’s not laminated, I have to keep licking my fingers.”

“If I’m reading I have a cup of water to dip my fingers in. I’m really neurotic.”

#3 Elliot Page (Tennis Balls)

During an interview whilst promoting X-Men: Days of Future Past, he was asked if he had come across any giant sentinels whilst filming.

Elliot replied, ”It’s a tennis ball. But I have a phobia of tennis balls, so it works really well.”

Page also added that he even has to turn the TV off if it comes on, ”I’ve always had it.”[The phobia.]

“Tennis comes on I have to get out of the room.”

#4 Oprah Winfrey (Gum)

Winfrey told People that she has Chiclephobia which is the fear of chewing gum. 

“I hate chewing gum. It makes me sick just to think about it.”

“When people chew loudly or smack it and pull it out of their mouth, that’s the worst.”

#5 Diddy (Long Second Toe)

Although this is probably the least of Diddy’s worries now, he revealed to Jay Leno he has a phobia of Morton’s toe, which is a long second toe.

“I have this foot thing… I really fear a long second toe.”

“I somehow get to see the toe on the first date, it’s mandatory.”

“I may not go for a kiss, but I’m definitely going to see if that second toe is long.”

#6 Scarlett Johansson (Birds)

Ornithophobia is a fear of birds, something that Johansson admitted to having.

Whilst promoting her 2011 movie We Bought a Zoo, she revealed she was “terrified” of the peacocks, “I’m only scared of birds.”

“Something about the wings and beaks and the flapping,” she told Vulture.

#7 Channing Tatum (Dolls)

Pediophobia is a phobia of a fear of dolls something that Tatum had to face his biggest fears once whilst joining Ellen DeGeneres on her TV show.

“In real life, I’m terrified of porcelain dolls,” Tatum admitted to Ellen.

“I just think they’re really super freaky. They have like real eyes and they look real.”

“I just imagine when I walk by them, their heads turn with you the whole time.”

#8 Johnny Depp (Clowns)

This is more of a common phobia, Depp revealed he has a fear of clowns known as coulrophobia.

“There always seemed to be a darkness lurking just under the surface, a potential for real evil.”

“I guess I am afraid of them because it’s impossible – thanks to their painted-on smiles – to distinguish if they are happy or if they’re about to bite your face off.”

#9 Jennifer Love Hewitt (Confined Spaces)

We all probably know someone who has claustrophobia, Hewitt’s claustrophobia is mostly caused by her fear of Elevators.

“My biggest fear is claustrophobia and that’s not a good one to have. … ‘Let’s fit 90 people in and go up to floor 68′ – not my thing.”

“I can’t do more than five people,” she admitted to Starpulse.

#10 Matthew McConaughey (Revolving Doors)

Orbitagoraphobia isn’t actually a legitimate word, but it’s the one people use to describe their phobia of revolving doors which simply happens to be McConaughey’s fear.

“I don’t like revolving doors, and I really don’t like that blind spot when you’re driving and go into a tunnel,” he told The Frisky.

“You know that spot where you can’t see for about 10 feet. You can’t see what’s in front of you.”
