By participating in the CoveredGeekly community—including commenting on articles, taking quizzes, creating ranked lists, and setting up a user profile—you agree to follow these Community Guidelines, as well as our Terms of Use.
1. Welcome to the Community
We encourage passionate discussion, healthy debate, and sharing your geeky interests. Disagreement is natural when talking about pop culture, but it must always remain respectful. Remember that there's a real person behind every username.
2. Core Principles
When interacting on CoveredGeekly, please keep these principles in mind:
- Be Respectful: Treat other users, our writers, and the creators we cover with respect.
- Stay on Topic: Keep comments relevant to the article, quiz, or list you are engaging with.
- Constructive Criticism: If you disagree with an opinion or review, explain why thoughtfully rather than attacking the author.
- No Spoilers: Please be mindful of others. If you must discuss plot details for recently released media, clearly mark them as spoilers.
3. Unacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension or a permanent ban:
- Hate Speech & Discrimination: We do not tolerate attacks or slurs based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
- Harassment & Bullying: Do not target individuals for abuse, name-calling, or sustained harassment.
- Threats & Violence: Any threats of real-world harm or encouragement of violence will be removed and may be reported to law enforcement.
- Spam & Self-Promotion: Do not use our comment sections or community features to post unsolicited advertisements, repetitive links, or promotional material.
- NSFW Content: Do not post sexually explicit material, graphic violence, or links to such content. CoveredGeekly is intended to be safe for a general audience (13+).
- Doxxing: Do not share the private, personal information of other users or individuals.
4. Quizzes & Fair Play
Our quizzes, XP system, and leaderboards are designed for fun and friendly competition. To keep things fair for everyone:
- No Cheating: Do not use automated bots, scripts, or exploits to farm XP or artificially inflate your quiz scores.
- One Account Per Person: Creating multiple accounts to manipulate leaderboards or bypass bans is prohibited.
Accounts found to be exploiting the gamification systems will have their scores reset, XP removed, or face a permanent ban from the platform.
5. User Profiles
Your user profile (including your display name, bio, and status messages) is public. All profile content must adhere to these guidelines.
- Do not use offensive, inappropriate, or impersonating display names.
- Do not include spam links or inappropriate content in your bio.
- If you use a custom avatar (via Google or Gravatar), it must be appropriate for a general audience.
6. Moderation & Enforcement
Our moderation team actively reviews community interactions. We reserve the right to remove any content and take action against any account that violates these guidelines, at our sole discretion.
Enforcement actions may include:
- Removal of comments or user-generated content
- A formal warning
- Temporary suspension of community privileges
- Permanent account ban
If your account is banned, you may not create a new one to bypass the restriction.
7. Reporting Issues
The community plays a vital role in keeping CoveredGeekly a great place to hang out. If you see a comment, profile, or behaviour that violates these guidelines, please report it.
