Following in the footsteps of his fellow actor Andrew Garfield, David Harbour has taken a unique approach to promoting the upcoming Marvel film, Thunderbolts.

The actor, who plays Red Guardian in the film, brought a life-sized cardboard cutout of his co-star, Florence Pugh, to the D23 Expo in Brazil.

“This is what we must do nowadays… because she’s so busy!”

“Andrew Garfield sent me this,” the actor said, provoking laughter from journalists at the expo.

Harbour’s playful gesture echoes a similar move by Garfield earlier this year.

When Pugh could not attend the London Film Festival premiere of We Live In Time due to filming commitments, Garfield, who stars alongside Pugh in the film, brought a cardboard cutout of her to the event.

This creative solution allowed Pugh to be “present” at the premiere, even though she was physically absent.

The cardboard cutout of Pugh, who portrays a young chef diagnosed with cancer in “We Live In Time,” was a clever way to acknowledge her absence while still paying tribute to her performance.

Harbour has followed suit, bringing a cardboard cutout of Pugh to the “Thunderbolts” panel at D23 Brazil. Pugh, currently busy with other projects, couldn’t attend the event, but Harbour ensured she was still present in spirit.

Garfield’s success with the same tactic influenced Harbour’s decision to bring the cardboard cutout.
