13 original American Pie stars then and now

1999’s American Pie launched an entire movie franchise, created various iconic quotes and jokes still used to this day, and also welcomed dozens of new stars who went on to become household names.

Stars such as Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, and more got their big Hollywood break by starring in not only one but several instalments of the comedy franchise.

Although some are still busy in the industry, such as The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge, not all are as popular as they once were – leaving room for curiosity as to what they’ve all been up to.

So, here are 13 original stars, both then and now…

1/13 Jason Biggs (Jim)

Jason, who played Jim Levenstein, married his partner Jenny Mollen in 2008 and shares two sons with her.

He most recently starred in the 2023 PG movie Best. Christmas. Ever! which was a very different role compared to who he played in American Pie.

He also starred in Orange is the New Black, playing Larry for 2 seasons.

Jason has also been very controversial previously online and described himself as “having a f*cked up sense of humour” and said he enjoyed the ability to “surprise people on a daily basis”, which caused death threats to him and caused him to publicly apologise for what he said online.

2/13 Seann William Scott (Stifler)

Seann has played one of the most iconic roles in the “American Pie” franchise, he has starred in numerous comedy movies over the years including Evolution, Goon and Crash in the Ice Age movies.

He has recently filed for Divorce after only 4 years of marriage to Olivia Korenberg and requested joint legal and physical custody of their daughter.

Seann is currently filming for Bad Man for his most recent role, which also starred the late Gen V star Chance Perdomo alongside him.

3/13 Alyson Hannigan (Michelle)

“This one time at band camp….“

Alyson is known for being in 9 seasons of How I Met Your Mother, spanning between 2005 to 2014, playing Lily.

She also starred as Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and is currently waiting for her next role in Dodie & Cheryl Get Hitched, which is in pre-production as of writing.

She was recently on Dancing with the Stars last year and came in 5th place with her dancing partner but lost an astonishing 20lbs during her time in the competition.

4/13 Chris Klein (Oz)

Chris, who played Oz, was in a five-year relationship with actress Katie Holmes. They even got engaged in late 2003 but split in 2005.

He is now married to Laina Rose Thyfault, and they share two children.

Chris has had several roles over the years since his time in American Pie, including Wilfred for 15 episodes and DC’s The Flash.

His most recent role is in a production called Fear Street: Prom Queen, which is a Horror/Mystery/Thriller based on R.L Stines’ original novel.

5/13 Tara Reid (Vicky)

Tara, who famously played Vicky, has had a difficult time over the years regarding her weight.

She has encountered bullying and harassment and had to publicly come out in 2023 defending her small frame, claiming: “I have no anorexia and never have.”

She added: “I definitely don’t have any bulimia. I’m terrified of throwing up, so that’s not gonna happen. And I love food too much.”

In 2011, Tara starred in the British reality TV series Big Brother and came in 8th place.

From 2013-2017, she starred in 5 “Sharknado” movies as April Wexler and most recently played a ‘Vampire Queen’ in the 2023 movie Bloodthirst.

6/13 Eddie Kaye Thomas (Finch)

“Finchf*cker!”

Eddie known as Finchf*cker in the “American Pie” Franchise currently voices ‘Barry’ in the American adult cartoon, American Dad since 2005.

He was cast as Toby in the CBS show Scorpion, but it was cancelled after four seasons in 2018.

He also had a role in the “Harold and Kumar” franchise.

7/13 Natasha Lyonne (Jessica)

Natasha did not have an easy life; she became addicted to alcohol and drugs in the early 2000s and was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Hepatitis C, a collapsed lung, and a specific heart infection known as heroin heart, which is caused by prolonged heroin use.

Life soon turned around for her, and she became a producer, writer, and director!

She co-created the Netflix series Russian Doll, which received 3 Emmy awards and received an astonishing 13 Emmy nominations.

Her most recent role was in the TV series Poker Face, as of writing.

She also played the character Nicky Nichols in Orange is the New Black.

She married popular SNL actor Fred Armisen in 2018 but divorced in 2022.

8/13 Shannon Elizabeth (Nadia)

Shannon has been in several things since her part in the “American Pie” movies, she was also known for her part in Scary Movie as Buffy Gilmore.

She played Kathy in the hit Horror movie Thir13en Ghosts in 2001, and her most recent acting skills landed her a role in the 2024 comedy movie Plan B.

Shannon is a known professional poker player.

Her largest win was $125k when she came third in the 2007 NBC National Heads-Up Championship.

Shannon founded a non-profit dog and cat rescue called “Animal Avengers”.

In 2018, she created a new charity in South Africa called the Shannon Elizabeth Foundation.

This foundation focuses on several things, including Education and awareness, Youth Empowerment, and more.

9/13 Thomas Ian Nicholas (Kevin)

Thomas was not supposed to be the original actor playing Kevin.

Andrew Keegan was originally offered the role, but due to filming for 10 Things I Hate About You – he couldn’t do it.

Thomas has starred in several movies and TV shows over the years, including Grey’s Anatomy and, most recently, the 2023 TV series Underdeveloped.

Thomas believes he didn’t get as famous as his co-stars due to not having a ‘publicist’.

Despite not getting many acting gigs, he is an alt-rock singer for his band - which you can check out below - and he has several gigs, including being a co-headliner for a UK 2024 Tour.

10/13 Mena Suvari (Heather)

Mena is an active member of several charities, including Breast Cancer Charities and the ‘End Violence Against Women’ campaign.

She is also a long-time supporter and activist for the African and Medical Research Foundation.

She married Michael Hope in 2018 and welcomed their only child in 2021.

In the same year, she released her first book, ‘The Great Peace’.

She played Nicole Brown Simpson in the 2019 movie inspired by true events and was also in several episodes of American Horror Story, she currently has several roles in post and pre-production.

11/13 Jennifer Coolidge (Stifler’s mum)

Jennifer has had a long-lasting acting career.

She landed her first role in an episode of Seinfield in 1993.

She had a “Bend and Snap” role in the box office hit movie Legally Blonde, has appeared in several American TV shows, including Frasier, Friends, and Sex and the City, and nearly landed the role of Lynette Scavo in Desperate Housewives!

Recently, she was in Netflix’s 2021 movie Single All the Way.

Jennifer is a keen charitable activist and supports AIDs assistance and animal rights.

She is a Vegan and was crowned PETA’s “Vegan Queen” in 2023.

12/13 Eugene Levy (Noah)

Eugene is another actor who’s had a long-standing acting career that goes back to the early 1970s.

He does a lot of voice acting, including shows such as Curious George and movies like Finding Dory.

He played Johnny Rose in Schitts Creek from 2015-2020 and appeared in 80 Episodes, in which his two children, Dan and Sarah, worked alongside him.

Eugene advocates for Autism Awareness and is a member of the Canadian charity Artists Against Racism.

13/13 Chris Owen (Chuck Sherman)

Chris, also known as The Sherminator, unfortunately, his acting career didn’t take off the way he wanted.

A 2014 article by the New York Daily News reported that he was working as a waiter in a Sushi Restaurant.

In the article, he says that “life doesn’t always go the way you planned”.

“I love acting, and this job lets me stay in the fight.”

He is currently married to Dayna and they tied the knot in 2020, he doesn’t have any children but refers to himself as the “Corgi Dad” on his Instagram.
