Fightclub and Mindhunter director David Fincher in talks to develop English-speaking Squid Game

PublishedLast updated

Released in 2021, Squid Game became a worldwide phenomenon, winning multiple awards and becoming the first non-English series to win the Primetime Emmy Awards.

It’s no surprise a second season is on the way in a couple of months.

Not only that, but the universe could be expanding even further with a new English-language series in the works.

As per Deadline, Fight Club director David Fincher is in talks to develop the new series.

With many fans excited to see Fincher’s next project, it seems the latest Squid Game series will be his biggest commitment for 2025.

The original series is a dark thriller and drama series with contestants of the game fighting for their survival.

These horror themes are something Fincher often works with and is best known for, so fans are eager to see the impression he can make.

The 62-year-old already had a film similar to the show called The Game.

Many claim the film to be one of Fincher’s most underrated films, considering how it performed mediocrely at the box office.

Fincher has helped Netflix produce multiple successful hits such as House of Cards and Mindhunter.

Dennis Kelly is rumoured to be writing the script, with the series to be set in the United States.

The original Squid Game is one of Netflix’s most streamed series, so this spin-off will no doubt have a huge fan base waiting for it.
