Another Simple Favor is a dark comedy mystery film and a sequel to the 2018 film A Simple Favor.
Debuting on Prime Video at the start of the month, Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick both reprised their roles along with a whole new star-studded cast.
Currently rated at 65% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has been gaining traction for all the wrong reasons.
With many mixed reviews, some calling it a “divinely twisted thriller” whilst others claimed it to be a “bland who-done-it mystery,” there is one thing fans agreed on.
In playing the twins Emily and Charity, Lively’s identical sisters share a kiss, which was a bit more than a peck.
Fans did not enjoy the somewhat forced narrative that didn’t need to be included, claiming the film was: “the strangest incest-filled movie I have ever watched.”
The 37-year-old is already in the headlines for her ongoing, very public, legal battle against It Ends with Us co-star Justin Baldoni, so the now incestuous scenes of her are adding to the fire.
“Another Simple Favor was good until the weird incest s*** started (again)!”
“At least in the last movie it kinda made sense, but in this one it was no cause for it!” one wrote.
“Another Simple Favor is the strangest incest-filled movie I have ever watched.”
“Blake lively you will be dealt with,” another said.
With Lively’s first public talk show appearance since her legal battle with Baldoni, she shared how this year had treated her.
“What I can say without going too into it is that this year has been the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in my life,” she said.
She added: “I see so many women around afraid to speak, especially right now, afraid to share their experiences, and fear is by design.”
Although the two films have both shown incest, the original having Kendrick’s character sleep with her half-brother, viewers still weren’t best pleased with the scenes.
“The lesbian incest in Another Simple Favor was a surprise.”
