Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has revealed when the iconic band plans to stop making music and call it quits for good.
Following their headline performance at Glastonbury in June and their extensive world tour, which is set to return to the UK next summer, Coldplay is releasing their new album, Moon Music, this Friday.
This will be the band’s 10th studio album, arriving more than 24 years after their debut album Parachutes in 2000.
The iconic band, featuring frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion, seem to have already decided when they’ll retire from making music.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Martin “promised” that the band would release just two more albums after Moon Music.
He said, “We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that’s real. Yeah, I promise.”
“Because less is more and for some of our critics, even less would be even more! It’s really important that we have that limit.”
Martin then explained why the band will retire after their 12th studio album.
He said, “There are only seven [“Harry Potter” movies]. There are only 12 and a half Beatles albums, there’s about the same for Bob Marley, so all our heroes.”
Martin further shared that Coldplay wants to conclude their musical journey on a high note, focusing on quality over quantity.

He added, “Also having that limit means the quality control is so high right now and for a song to make it, it’s almost impossible, which is great. And so where we could be coasting, we’re trying to improve.”
Formed in 1996, Coldplay burst onto the scene with their debut album Parachutes in 2000.
Over the years, they have become one of the biggest bands in the world, producing a string of hit records and earning countless awards.
Coldplay are currently promoting their latest album, Moon Music, which marks their 10th studio release since signing their record deal.
At the same time, the band is on their Music of the Spheres World Tour, named after their previous album, with the tour set to conclude in 2025.
