James Bond star Daniel Craig is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming Sgt. Rock movie – a new project set in James Gunn’s DC Universe.
As per Deadline, Luca Guadagnino and Daniel Craig are teaming up again for a Sgt. Rock project at DC Studios.
However, according to the report, no official deals have been made with DC Studios, Craig, or Guadagnino yet, so it’s uncertain if the project will happen.
The script for Sgt. Rock is being written by Justin Kuritzkes, who also worked with Guadagnino on Challengers and Queer.
Sgt. Rock, a World War II-era DC Comics character introduced in 1959, is portrayed as a highly skilled infantry officer with no superpowers but exceptional combat abilities and endurance.
The movie might feature his interactions with other DC characters or function as a standalone story under the Elseworlds label, similar to films like The Batman.
The film is expected to be a period piece set during World War II, staying true to the character’s origins.
This project aligns with DC Studios’ broader strategy of embracing diverse genres and storytelling styles. If greenlit, it could follow the auteur-driven path of successful films like The Batman and Joker.
The new DC Universe is gearing up for its first round of releases.
December will kick things off with the premiere of the adult-animated series Creature Commandos on Max.
After that, fans can look forward to James Gunn’s Superman and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which stars House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock.
David Corenswet is set to take on the role of Superman in the upcoming film.
DC Studios’ Sgt Rock project has not been officially announced yet.
