Famous American actor Denzel Washington, known for movies such as Malcolm X and American Gangster, has announced he will soon retire.
Washington is currently 69 years old and will turn 70 next month, so it is understandable that he wants to retire and enjoy spending time with his family.
The Award-winning actor spoke on the Australian version of TODAY to tell fans he only has a few more movie roles left to play.

“For me, it’s about the filmmaker, especially at this point in my career,” he said.
“I’m only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I’m gonna make — probably not that many.”
“I want to do things I haven’t done.”
In reference to his role in Shakespeare’s Broadway play, which he will star alongside actor Jake Gyllenhaal next February, he added, “I played Othello at 22. I am about to play Othello at 70.”
“After that, I am playing Hannibal, after that, I’ve been talking to Steve McQueen about a film.”
“After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther.”

“After that, I’m going to do the film Othello, After that, I’m going to do King Lear.“
“After that, I’m going to retire.”
Fans are understandably happy and upset about the news, calling him an “amazing man” and an “Amazing career.”
“Excellent actor and an exemplary human being… love to watch his acting, interviews or him just being himself,” one wrote.
“Good for him and his wife.”
“They can relax and enjoy in all he’s accomplished, well deserved,” another said.
