Everybody Loves Raymond reboot series hopes shut down by Ray Romano

"It was very personal to me."

Hit American Sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond ran for 9 seasons from 1996 to 2005.

It starred Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, Brad Garret, Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle as the main cast.

Reboots and remakes are becoming very overdone in Hollywood, and many are demanding that the TV and film industries stop and come up with new ideas.

Romano, who plays Raymond in the comedic sitcom, spoke to Yahoo Entertainment alongside co-star Lisa Kudrow.

While promoting their new TV series, No Good Deed, he was asked, “Is there any show they’ve worked on that they don’t want given the reboot treatment?”

Romano admitted he would not like to see a reboot of his series, “I’m just a little protective of Everybody Loves Raymond.”

“Just because it was very personal to me,” he explained.

Kudrow agreed with her co-star, “Well, yeah, you can’t do that.”

Romano added, “I mean, it was based on my life and I was such a part of the creative side of it and all.”

Despite there being an adaptation of the sitcom in India, Romano loves that version as it shows other cultures.

“I actually like that it’s rebooted there because it just shows how other cultures — we’re all the same,” he continued.

“So it’s good to see them appreciate it.”

Although Friends actress Kudrow had different feelings, “I don’t know, I think it’s OK, reboot whatever you want.”
