Blade fans are in for a treat, as the character will appear in the upcoming Marvel Zombies series ahead of Mahershala Ali’s live-action movie.
Marvel’s vampire hunter is set to feature in the upcoming animated series with a fresh voice behind the Daywalker.
According to ComicBook.com, Todd Williams has been cast as Eric Brooks, also known as Blade Knight, in the Disney+ series.
Williams is no stranger to the Marvel universe, having voiced Rick Mason in the Spider-Man: Miles Morales video game.
Marvel Zombies arrives on September 24, 2025, and will pick up from the undead chaos first glimpsed in What If…?.
The show is a darker twist on the MCU, with a star-packed cast that includes David Harbour as Red Guardian, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, and Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel.
Showrunner Bryan Andrews teased the tone of the series, telling ComicBook.com: “All I can say is, blood will be spilled.”
Blade’s arrival feels like a natural fit. The character has long been tied to battling supernatural threats, making him a key player in a story overrun with the undead.
This marks his first appearance in Marvel’s MCU-linked animation, expanding his presence ahead of Mahershala Ali’s live-action movie.
The cast also features Hailee Steinfeld, Awkwafina, Randall Park, and Dominique Thorne, who will reprise their existing Marvel roles as the heroes fight to survive the outbreak.
Blade’s arrival in animation comes at a time when his live-action solo movie has been put on the backburner.
Originally announced in 2019 with Ali attached, the film has faced a rocky path with changing directors, multiple rewrites, and even a full creative overhaul.
At one point, it was planned as a period piece before Marvel shifted it to a modern-day setting.
According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, the studio “didn’t want to simply just put a leather outfit on him,” saying that quality was more important than rushing the project for the studio.
Production was also hit by outside setbacks like the pandemic, the 2023 Hollywood strikes, and Marvel’s already packed release schedule.
Director Yann Demange left the movie in 2024, making him the second filmmaker to depart the project.
Earlier this year, reports suggested the studio had “no sense of urgency” to complete the reboot until the story felt right.
The film has since been removed from Marvel’s release calendar.
