Grant Gustin says he only wants to play Flash in James Gunn’s DCU

James Gunn’s DC Universe is set to bring a new live-action Superman star to the big screen this month, along with various other characters.

In addition, the franchise’s next projects are already lined up, with DC’s Supergirl and more already having been announced with actors attached.

Despite the numerous cast announcements, there is still no news on DCU’s Flash.

However, Grant Gustin has officially teased his interest in returning to the role.

Grant Gustin Wants DCU Flash Role

While at a recent FAN EXPO, Gustin was asked who he would like to play in the DCU.

This comes after the actor starred as the iconic DC hero in CW’s The Flash for nine seasons.

He also starred as the character in additional CW/DC shows, such as Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

Now, over a decade later, he still has his heart set on playing Barry Allen.

When asked by a young fan in the crowd on who he would “want to play” in James Gunn’s DC Universe, if the opportunity ever came, Gustin had a quick and simple one-worded response: “Flash.”

Gustin’s response was met with an instant roar of excitement from the audience.

Could Grant Gustin Become the DCU Flash?

If Hugh Jackman can do it with Wolverine, in multiple universes and timelines as well as being carried from one studio to another, then surely Gustin deserves a shot at it too.

Although it depends on the direction James Gunn and his team decide to go with, there’s a chance Gustin could at least be in for a shot to re-test for the role.

DCU’s Superman will be skipping the character’s origin story by years, so it’s fair to assume the same could be done with The Flash.

Gustin is currently in his mid-30s, which isn’t an impossible age to play the character, depending on what age bracket DC Studios intends for him to be in when first introduced.
