The long-promised sequel to 2005’s Constantine is one step closer to becoming a reality.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has revealed that the script for Constantine 2 is complete, but he hasn’t worked up the courage to read it yet.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, di Bonaventura said, “You know it’s in my inbox right now. Funny enough, I’m too scared to read it, though.”
“I want it to be good so bad.”
“I’ll probably read it in the next few days.”
“When I get on an airplane.”

Constantine 2 was officially announced in September 2022, with Keanu Reeves set to reprise his role as John Constantine and Francis Lawrence returning to direct.
Akiva Goldsman has written the screenplay, replacing Kevin Brodbin and Frank Cappello who scripted the original 2005 movie which grossed $230 million worldwide.
While plot details remain under wraps, Goldsman previously shared that the sequel will expand on themes introduced in the 2005 original, such as maintaining the barrier between Earth and evil creatures.
Director Francis Lawrence has expressed a desire to make the sequel R-rated, potentially making it “much scarier and much more violent” than the original.

It’s currently unclear whether Constantine 2 will be part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe or if it will fall under DC Studios’ Elseworlds label.
The Elseworlds brand is being reserved for adaptations that don’t fit within the main DCU continuity, such as Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II and Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux.
Constantine 2 does not yet have a release date, as of writing.
