Power Rangers and Digimon actor Dave Mallow dies aged 76

Dave Mallow has died.

Dave Mallow, the beloved voice actor known for his work on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Digimon, has passed away at the age of 76.

TMZ confirmed Mallow’s passing on Tuesday and reported that he died in hospice care at the MonteCedro Senior Living Community in Altadena, California.

According to a former colleague, his health had been in decline for several years.

Mallow was a key part of the Power Rangers franchise, voicing Baboo and multiple other characters in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers between 1993 and 1999.

He continued working on the series in Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers in Space, and Power Rangers Time Force. Fans remember him for bringing life to memorable villains such as Pudgy Pig, Lizzinator, Terror Blossom, and Beamcaster.

The Morphin’ Legacy X account paid tribute to the late actor in a statement.

“It is with a heavy heart that we report; Iconic #PowerRangers Voice Actor, Dave Mallow, has passed away. Dave was best known for his roles in #MightyMorphin; voicing such iconic monsters of the day such as Pudgy Pig, Lizzinator, Terror Blossom, Beamcaster and so many more!”

The statement continued, “He was also the voice of the beloved, Baboo. Dave also provided voices for many monsters of the day from Zeo through Wild Force. Morphin’ Legacy sends all the love and light to his family during this time, Rest in Power! #ripdavemallow”

Mallow had a long and successful career in voice acting, bringing countless animated characters to life. Apart from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, he also voiced Angemon, Gekkomon, and several other characters in the Digimon franchise.

His contributions played a key role in the success of the English-language adaptations of these shows.

Beyond those iconic roles, Mallow’s voice could be heard in popular anime series like “Naruto,” “Bleach,” and “FLCL.”

He also made an impact in the video game industry, lending his voice to characters such as Akuma in “Street Fighter” and various roles in “World of Warcraft.”

Before making his mark in voice acting, Mallow spent 12 years as a radio personality in the Midwest and New York City.

In 1984, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in voice work, a decision that led to decades of success and admiration from fans and peers alike.

Mallow is survived by his older sister, Marilyn, who also resides at MonteCedro.
