Pretty Little Liars‘ recent sequel reboot series Summer School has officially been cancelled after only two seasons at Max, formerly known as HBO Max.
The reboot was described as a horror-inflected take on the original 2010 series, with the original show lasting for a total of seven seasons.
The streamer decided to axe the reboot around three months after its second-season debut.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Max said in a statement: “While Max will not be moving forward with a third season of Pretty Little Liars,”
“We are so grateful to our co-creators, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, as well as the team at Warner Bros. Television, for reintroducing fans to this new iteration of liars who band together to fight the latest creepy villain terrifying Millwood.”
The statement continued: “Their unique and modern creative vision - combined with the immense talent of our cast and crew - gave the series a fun, horror-filled point of view that paid tribute to its original Rosewood roots.”
Despite Season 2 of Pretty Little Liars: Summer School ending with teases for future storylines, fans of the now-cancelled reboot will be left simply wondering what could have been.

The reboot first debuted with Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on Max on July 28, 2022.
It quickly earned a season two renewal shortly after its finale aired on the streamer.
As per THR, TVLine first reported the news of Max cancelling the series.
