Max has cancelled Velma after two seasons.
The series, which starred The Office‘s Mindy Kaling as the titular Mystery Gang member, was cancelled after two seasons at Max as per Entertainment Weekly.
Velma first debuted to mixed reactions amongst Scooby-Doo fans for its unique adult spin on the beloved and iconic children’s animated series’ protagonist, Velma Dinkley.
In addition to Kaling’s Velma, Sam Richardson voiced Shaggy Rogers with Constance Wu as Daphne Blake, and Glenn Howerton as Fred Jones, among others.

Despite the majority of the Mystery Gang appearing in the now-cancelled series, the franchise’s iconic main canine Scooby-Doo was nowhere to be seen throughout the two seasons.
As per previous updates, it has been said that the studio blocked the Velma team from using Scooby-Doo himself as the creators failed to come up with an adult take on the character.
“Over the past two seasons, Mindy and Charlie [Grandy] have created an incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise,” a spokesperson for Max said in a statement.
“While we won’t be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivalled clues, and hilarious hijinks.”

Velma‘s second season premiered with 10 episodes on April 25 with its latest episode, a Halloween special that dropped on October 3, serving as the show’s official finale.
TV Line first reported the news of the show’s cancellation.
Grandy created the show with Kaling who served as executive producer, although the show may have garnered some fans, its lack of viewership will most likely be the reason behind its cancellation.
