Trans X-Men star Elliot Page, who was once known as Ellen Page, transitioned from female to male in December 2020 and has been a strong advocate for the LGBTQ community ever since.

Although he started his acting career at the age of 10 by starring in a role as Maggie in the 2 season TV drama Pit Pony.

He didn’t get his big breakout role until the age of 20 when he was given the main role of Juno MacGuff in the 2007 movie Juno.

Juno was a 16-year-old high school student who lost her virginity to friend Paulie Bleeker, played by Michael Cera, only to find out she got pregnant.

The pair decided to put the baby up for adoption, and eventually, they came across a couple called Mark and Vanessa Loring, who Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner played.

During the adoption process and meet-ups, Juno became close with adoptee Mark and bonded over their love of music, to which the pair started discussing baby names.

In an interview with Bustle some time ago, he revealed the one line he wishes he never said that could be seen as homophobic.

During the baby name discussion, Juno mentions the name Madison, which his character calls “a little gay.”

“It wasn’t something I totally registered at the time, but, of course, now that I’m older, I do.”

“So many movies I loved as a kid are just rampant with homophobia and transphobia and biphobia,”

“And I’m not excusing it by any means.”

In Page’s 2023 memoir book, “Pageboy”, he discussed his own shame, adding that he “struggled to rid” himself of negative thoughts.

“Shame had been drilled into my bones since I was my tiniest self, and I struggled to rid my body of that old toxic and erosive marrow.”

Juno went on to become a movie box office success, it was initially an indie movie with a 6.5 million budget but it gained back that in 20 days.

After being limited to release for the first 19 days, it went on to earn a whopping 232 million worldwide and is still loved by many.
