Famous The Walking Dead series star reveals he was ‘knocked out’ after controversial scene

"He came down pretty hard on my head."

A star from The Walking Dead has revealed that one of the most iconic scenes in the zombie series’ history was his worst episode.

Ross Marquand, who is famously known for playing Aaron in the 11-season series, discusses back to the time of an episode that raised a lot of controversy over the brutality.

The scene involves the death of the beloved characters Glenn Rhee and Abraham Ford, and they unfortunately meet the end of Negan’s much-loved bat, Lucille.

The controversial scene left viewers in tears and quitting the show forever, with hundreds of complaints flooding in due to the severe brutality and gore.

He reveals that due to many leaks back then, they recorded many different versions to confuse the editors.

“They made us record different variations of the deaths, so there was three different versions.”

“They were trying to throw off the editors because there was a lot of leaks happening back then.”

“They wanted to make sure there was no spoilers so they recorded one day of very different deaths,” he added.

“I died in one, Maggie and Sasha died in one.”

He also spoke of Rosita and Carl also recording a death scene with Negan, played by Supernatural star Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

“They would try to throw off the editors so that if there was a leak, they could find out who it was.”

Marquand added that his death sequence was actually one of the last, and they were all so tired from shooting all day.

“They have these blood packs on the side of the bat, it has a metal bar in the middle.”

“It’s covered in soft padding, but it’s still a metal bar.”

He spoke of Jeffrey perhaps coming down on his head a little too hard, “he tried to go down as soft as he could.”

“But it was towards the end of the day, and he came down pretty hard on my head,” he continued.

“And when it hit me, I thought I got knocked out,” he said.

As the blood packs splattered everywhere, he just fell down as quickly as he could, but Marquand revealed he had the “worst headache for days” after the head bashing.

“That was definitely my least favourite scene and episode to shoot, and we couldn’t wait to get done with that episode.”

“It was the worst episode but also some of the best acting I think we’ve ever done,” he added.
