It may come as a surprise to many, but despite an iconic career spanning over five decades, legendary actor Al Pacino still doesn’t have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
While promoting his new memoir, Sonny Boy, the 83-year-old actor recently sat down for a candid interview with the BBC to discuss his life and career.
During the conversation, the host brought up the fact that they couldn’t find Pacino’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Pacino laughed and responded, “Oh, I don’t have a star.”
He went on to add, “No, I don’t know. It happens.”
“There are a lot of people who have [a star], but there’s also a lot of people who don’t.”
When asked if he’d like to receive one, Pacino nodded in agreement, hinting that he’d be open to the idea.
Despite his iconic roles in The Godfather, Scarface, Scent of a Woman, and countless other classics, Pacino hasn’t been honoured with Hollywood’s most famous recognitions.
His performances have earned him numerous awards, including an Oscar for Best Actor, but a spot on the Walk of Fame remains elusive.
His portrayal of Michael Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather trilogy not only earned him critical acclaim but forever secured his place in cinematic legend.
Then there’s Dog Day Afternoon, where he played Sonny Wortzik, a desperate man attempting to rob a bank to pay for his partner’s gender reassignment surgery - an emotionally charged performance that remains one of his most celebrated roles.
More recently, he returned to the screen in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman.
Al Pacino’s memoir Sonny Boy is set to release on October 15, 2024.
