Batman makes history as the first superhero to have a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Batman is set to become the first superhero to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The organization behind the Walk of Fame announced that the 2,790th star will be dedicated to Batman on September 26, according to the official DC website.

While it’s unclear if Batman will make an appearance to give a speech, DC president and chief creative officer Jim Lee is confirmed to attend the event.

The star will be located at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum. Fittingly, Batman’s star will be placed next to those of television Batman actor Adam West and the character’s co-creator, Bob Kane.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said in a statement.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to honour our first superhero on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! The one, the only, Batman!”

“Fans from around the world will be thrilled to know that Batman will have his star dedicated next to the stars of television’s Batman, Adam West, and the co-creator of Batman, Bob Kane.”

In addition to receiving a star, Batman will also be awarded a Guinness World Records title for being the first superhero to receive this honor.

Michael Empric, an official Guinness World Records adjudicator, will be present to certify this historic achievement.

This isn’t Batman’s first entry in the Guinness World Records. The character has previously been recognized as the longest-running comic book series and the most adapted comic book character in live-action films.

Created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939.

Over the past 85 years, the character has become a global icon, spanning comics, television, film, and various other media.

The Batman film franchise has been a huge success, earning over $6.8 billion worldwide and ranking as the 10th highest-grossing film franchise in history.

Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck all took on the role of Batman in later live-action films, while Robert Pattinson is the most recent actor to play the Caped Crusader in his 2022 film The Batman, which is set to have a sequel.

Another version of Batman is also on the way in The Brave and the Bold, part of DC Studios’ newly minted DC Universe under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
