Dave Bautista addresses reason behind weight loss following concern from fans

ByVinay Sharma

Former WWE superstar and Marvel actor Dave Bautista has finally addressed the reason behind his recent dramatic weight loss.

The 55-year-old star, known for his imposing physique, shocked fans with his slimmed-down appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In a candid interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bautista explained the motivation behind his transformation.

He said, “I started trimming down for a particular reason. Why I did it is because I got fat. I got really big for a role, rather uncomfortably big.

The actor mentioned that for his part in M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin, he had reached around 315 pounds, a weight he found challenging to maintain

He further said, “I was around 315 pounds and put on weight really fast. When I was younger, I was carrying lots of muscle.”

“This weight I put on between films and gained it rather quickly with French fries and pancakes.
The director told me ‘I don’t want you to look like a power-lifter.”

“I just want you to look like this great big guy’ And now looking back, I think I overdid it. It took me forever to shed it off.”

Bautista’s weight loss journey wasn’t just about shedding excess pounds. He discovered that his new physique opened doors to more diverse acting roles.

He explained, “The more I trimmed down, the better I felt. The more I trimmed down, the better I look on camera, next to other actors.”

The Dune star now weighs in at 240 pounds, a significant drop from his WWE days when he tipped the scales at 290 pounds.

Despite fan concerns about his health, Bautista assures that he’s still a “big human being” at 6’4″ and 240 pounds.

To maintain his new look, Bautista follows a strict regimen. He practices intermittent fasting and limits his calorie intake to around 2,500 per day. The actor also incorporates intense workouts and jiu-jitsu training into his routine.

His latest film, The Killer’s Game, is set to showcase his new physique and expanded acting range.
