The long-anticipated debut of Batman in James Gunn’s new DC Universe (DCU) has finally arrived, and it’s already causing waves among fans.
Thanks to the latest episode of Creature Commandos, audiences got their first look at the Caped Crusader - and one thing is now certain: this Batman is not Robert Pattinson’s.
For months, fans speculated whether Gunn’s revamped DCU might integrate Pattinson’s version of the Dark Knight, introduced in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Despite Gunn repeatedly clarifying that the DCU would have its own distinct Batman, hope lingered among Pattinson’s supporters that his brooding, noir-inspired take on Gotham’s vigilante could somehow cross over.
Episode 6 of Creature Commandos has effectively put those theories to rest, seemingly.
In a flashback sequence, Creature Commandos shows Batman briefly confronting Dr. Phosphorus (voiced by Alan Tudyk) and throwing him into prison.
Though the cameo was short, it revealed enough to confirm this isn’t the leaner, detective-like Batman portrayed by Pattinson.
Instead, the new DCU’s Batman appears bulkier and more muscular, reminiscent of Ben Affleck’s version in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

The brief appearance wasn’t enough to show every detail of this Batman suit, but his silhouette and imposing physique suggest a design closer to the comics.
This is a departure from Pattinson’s armor-heavy, tactical look and hints at a more seasoned, battle-ready Caped Crusader.
James Gunn has been vocal about his love for Batman and hinted at big plans for the character.
In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Gunn addressed the cameo, confirming this Batman as the DCU’s version and teasing future appearances.
“This is the DCU Batman,” Gunn said.
“I just love Batman. I’ve loved him since I was a little kid… He’s one of my favorite characters, and we’re going to do great things with him.”
“He’s the most popular superhero in the world, and I can’t wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman and together.”

While Creature Commandos has introduced the DCU’s Batman, his first major outing will come in the live-action movie The Brave and the Bold.
The film, which is said to have already been facing some delays, will mark the full introduction of this new Dark Knight and his partnership with Robin.
Until then, the Creature Commandos cameo offers fans a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come.
Interestingly, Gunn also revealed that the Batman scene in Creature Commandos was initially more revealing.
The version fans saw was deliberately kept shrouded in shadows. “When they first showed the episode to me, there was a lot more Batman,” Gunn admitted.
“And I said, ‘I’m not ready to commit to that… more silhouette!’”
This cautious approach suggests Gunn and his team are being meticulous about Batman’s rollout in the DCU, making sure every detail is just right before fully pulling back the curtain.
The series features an impressive voice cast, including Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and David Harbour as Frankenstein.
With a bulkier, comic-accurate Batman in the DCU and Pattinson’s version continuing in its own timeline, fans essentially get the best of both worlds.
