DC fans finally got their first official glimpse of James Gunn’s Superman with the release of its highly anticipated teaser trailer.
The trailer, which dropped on Thursday, gave fans a look at Krypto the Superdog, hinting that the beloved canine sidekick will play a significant role alongside Superman.
Early reactions to the teaser have been overwhelmingly positive.
Viewers have praised the cinematography, score, and overall tone, with many describing it as a hopeful, uplifting take on Superman.
“This is the Superman we’ve been waiting for,” one fan wrote online, echoing the sentiments of many others.
The biggest surprise of the trailer, however, was the reveal of Krypto the Superdog.
The loyal canine companion, a beloved figure from DC Comics lore, made an instant impression on fans.
Having recently appeared in the animated movie DC League of Super-Pets (2022), Krypto’s inclusion in Superman: Legacy hints at a playful but heartfelt tone for the film.
Fans flocked to X to shower praise on Krypto following his powerful debut in the trailer.
One excited fan highlighted the moment Krypto appeared, writing, “This literally gave me goosebumps. We get KRYPTO!!!!”

Another fan singled out the scene of Krypto rescuing Superman as their “favourite”.
He added, “I had zero expectations, but Superman surprised me and the trailer looks good. My favourite part is Super Dog helps Superman!”
A third fan chimed in, “The scene with Krypto really made me feel the happiness and love I get from reading a Superman comic.”
“I truly can’t believe James Gunn was able to capture this.”
Superman is set to hit theatres worldwide in July 2025, marking the start of James Gunn’s bold new vision for the DC Universe.
The reboot features an ensemble cast alongside David Corenswet as Superman. Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane, while Isabela Merced takes on the role of Hawkgirl.
Edi Gathegi is set to portray Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion will appear as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan steps in as Metamorpho and Gabriela de Faría plays The Engineer.
Nicholas Hoult is set to play the iconic villain Lex Luthor, who is also confirmed as the main antagonist of the film.
