Emma Stone sparks Disney+ fans to demand content warning over raunchy scene in new film

ByShashwat

Emma Stone’s new film Kinds of Kindness has stirred controversy due to an unexpectedly graphic orgy scene, catching many viewers off guard.

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, the anthology film recently became available on Disney+ in the UK, leading to debates about its suitability on the platform.

The movie follows Stone’s character, Eloise, as she interacts with different people across three distinct stories.

The controversial moment occurs in the second chapter, where Eloise, a marine biologist recently rescued after being lost at sea, returns to her husband, played by Jesse Plemons.

The pair quickly find themselves in a provocative group encounter with another couple.

The abrupt shift to full-frontal nudity and the scene’s intensity left many viewers feeling unprepared, with some questioning whether Disney+ provided sufficient warnings.

The platform, best known for its family-friendly image, has increasingly hosted mature content through its “Star” hub, but the explicit nature of this scene reignited debates about its evolving brand identity.

One viewer commented online, “Kinds of Kindness being available on Disney Plus feels weird and unnatural, like seeing a crocodile at the dog park.”

Another added, “Why the f*** is this associated with Disney Plus?”

“It’s too dark and really weird.”

“It’s too much #KindsOfKindness.”

Emma Stone, however, has defended her collaboration with Lanthimos, describing her immense trust in his direction.

“I trust him beyond the trust I have had with any director,” she said during the Cannes Film Festival, where the film premiered.

Stone’s performance in Kinds of Kindness follows her acclaimed role in Poor Things, another Lanthimos film that sparked discussions around its daring R-rated content.

While Kinds of Kindness has drawn criticism for its graphic moments, others have praised it for its bold storytelling and exploration of human connection.

Alongside Stone and Plemons, the film features an ensemble cast including Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, and Hong Chau.
