Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield recently shared a hilariously awkward moment from the set of their highly anticipated romantic drama We Live In Time.
While filming a steamy scene, the duo became so engrossed in their performance that they completely missed the cue to stop, leading to a rather uncomfortable yet humorous situation for the crew.
Garfield opened up about the mishap during a discussion with Josh Horowitz at a 92nd Street Y event in New York, where he reflected on how both actors were so “in the zone” that they missed hearing the director call “cut” after a passionate sequence.
As Garfield described, “We were doing the first take of this very intimate, passionate scene, and it’s a closed set, which means it’s just me, Florence, and the camera operator - a lovely man named Stuart - along with the boom operator.”
With the director in another room watching on monitors, the pair continued beyond the scripted moment without realizing it.
“The scene becomes passionate, as we choreographed it, and we get into it.”
“We go a little further than we were meant to just because we never heard ‘cut,’” Garfield explained.
Garfield admitted that at that moment, both he and Pugh were thinking, “This definitely feels like a longer take.”
As Garfield recounted, they eventually noticed Stuart, the cameraman, standing awkwardly in the corner, facing the wall with his camera at his side.
Garfield humorously added that he and Pugh had a moment of telepathic realization, both thinking, “This definitely feels like a longer take”.
The film, which is set for release in early 2025, follows the love story of their characters, Tobias and Almut, who navigate a series of life-altering events.
