Lisa Kudrow reveals she recently found secret ‘note’ Matthew Perry wrote for her

ByVinay Sharma

Just over a year after Matthew Perry’s passing, Lisa Kudrow has revealed a touching memory of her late Friends co-star.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, while promoting her latest series, No Good Deed, Kudrow shared that she recently discovered a heartfelt note Perry left for her in a cookie jar he gave her when the beloved sitcom wrapped in 2004.

Perry, best known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing, died on October 28, 2023, at age 54.

His death left fans and the Friends cast devastated.

Kudrow explained that she had kept the cookie jar, a piece from the Friends set, but never opened it until recently.

She said, “And I have recently found the note that he had in it for me.”

“I hadn’t opened it up or looked inside of it. But yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it. Timing’s everything.”

While she didn’t share what the note said, the story clearly touched Barrymore deeply.

After Perry’s passing, Kudrow confessed she started rewatching episodes of Friends, something she had avoided doing before.

She previously told The Hollywood Reporter, “Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself.”

“But if I make it about Matthew, then that’s OK. It’s just celebrating how hilarious he was - and that is what I want to remember [about him].”

She went on, “I’m blown away by Courteney Cox.”

“I’m blown away by Jen.”

“Matthew, obviously, is just uniquely hilarious.”

“No one ever knew that cadence or comedic rhythm before him. Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer, too.”

“Sometimes I even laugh at what I’ve done.”

Kudrow had also shared a personal Instagram tribute to Perry, thanking him for his humour, grace, and friendship during their years on Friends.

She wrote, “Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face EVERY DAY.”

“Thank you for your open heart in a six way relationship that required compromise. And a lot of ‘talking.’”

“Thank you for showing up at work when you weren’t well and then, being completely brilliant. Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have.”

“Thank you for trusting me.”

“Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you. Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew.”
