Lizzo tears up while addressing sexual harassment lawsuit amid claim she did ‘nothing wrong’

ByVinay Sharma

Lizzo has spoken out about the legal battles she is facing, including accusations of sexual harassment from former dancers and claims of fostering a toxic workplace.

The “About Damn Time” singer was first sued last year by three ex-dancers, who alleged she pressured one to touch a nude performer at a club in Amsterdam and created a hostile work environment.

More recently, wardrobe assistant Asha Daniels filed a separate lawsuit, accusing Lizzo’s wardrobe manager of bullying and alleging the singer encouraged an unsafe, sexually charged workplace culture.

Appearing on Keke Palmer’s podcast, Lizzo tearfully addressed the allegations and vowed to fight them. She described a recent court decision as a “big victory” and admitted feeling deeply hurt by the dancers’ lawsuit.

She told, “I was literally living in my dream, and then the tour ended, and three ex-dancers just completely, like, blindsided me with a lawsuit.”

“I was very deeply hurt because these were three ex-dancers, so they weren’t on the tour. They didn’t, like, finish the tour out with us. But even regardless of that, these were people that I gave opportunities to.”

Despite her past respect and appreciation for the dancers, Lizzo dismissed many of their claims as “silly.”

She tearfully added, “I had to learn that a little bit of my innocence is gone, and a little bit of my free spirit is gone for sure, because that kind of mass betrayal is hard for any person to take.”

“I worked so hard to get to this place in my life. I, like, f**king slept out of my car and didn’t know where I was going to get my next meal.”

“I’ve been through so much pain and loss, and I just tried to work through that pain and loss and bring joy to the world. That’s all I try to do.”

In a recent ruling, a Los Angeles court decided that Daniels could not sue Lizzo personally, stating her employers were the singer’s touring and payroll companies, according to BBC News.

While Lizzo’s production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., remains a defendant in Daniels’ ongoing case, the ruling has allowed Lizzo to speak more openly about the allegations, which she has consistently denied.
