75-year-old A-lister actress Meryl Streep is well known for her diverse roles in the industry.
Sadly way too often are actresses and actors scrutinised for the way they look, although Streep has had setbacks in her career, she proved just how resilient she is.
She has racked up a whopping 21 Oscars since she started acting in the 70s, which is a clear indication of her talent.
However, during a Graham Norton interview in 2015, she revealed to the host that she had missed out on the opportunity to star in the 1976’s King Kong.

Meryl told Graham that she had once caught the attention of a film director’s son while performing in a play.
She revealed he had invited her to meet his father, Dino De Laurentiis.
“He had this amazing office that looked all over Manhattan, I walked in and his son was sitting there, very excited that he’d brought in this new actress.”
She continued: “And the father said to his son in Italian, because I understand Italian, he said, ‘che brutta’, you know, ‘why do you bring me this ugly thing?'”
She said it was “very sobering as a young girl” and that she had told the director in Italian, “I’m sorry that I’m not beautiful enough to be in King Kong.”
Streep recalled the story with laughter, joined by the audience.
The role was eventually given to actress Jessica Lange, however, Streep didn’t let that discourage her.
Just four years later, she won her first Academy Award for playing the role of a troubled wife in Kramer vs. Kramer.
