Robert Pattinson addresses those who claim his Twilight franchise ruined vampire movies forever

Since the end of the Twilight Saga in 2012 with Breaking Dawn Part Two, Pattinson has tried his hardest to stay away from the series.

However, with a series as popular as that, it continues to follow him throughout his extensive career.

Many horror fans have commented about the saga’s depiction of the Supernatural and how it has “ruined” the vampire franchise.

Yet Pattinson didn’t share the same sentiment.

“I love that people keep telling me, ‘Man, Twilight ruined the vampire genre.’ Are you still stuck on that s—? How can you be sad about something that happened almost 20 years ago? It’s crazy.”

Although Pattinson owes his fame to the film saga, he has gone on to work on impressive films like The Batman, Tenet, and this year’s Mickey 17.

The 38-year-old actor is candid about his time as the sparkling vampire, sharing how he understands where the criticism comes from.

“The people who don’t like it are generally people who haven’t seen it, and they’re like all judgmental and stuff, and cynical people,” he told GQ Spain.

“I think I am a judgmental and cynical person who would just mindlessly hate it without ever having seen anything.”

“I mean, it’s a weird story, Twilight. It’s strange how people responded.”

Pattinson also made some hilarious comments about his understanding of the film as a ‘romance’.

“The Notebook is very, very sweet and heartbreaking and stuff.”

“Twilight is about this guy who finds the one girl he wants to be with, and also wants to eat her.”

“Well not eat her, drink her blood, whatever.”

“I thought there were definitely bits that were very romantic.”

“But to me, I thought it was a pretty weird story.”

“Even when I was promoting it, I was pretty open about how strange I thought it was when I was doing it.”
