UK theatres issue warning as Terrifier 3 leaves viewers ‘vomiting’ and ‘walking out’ of screening

Terrifier 3 has been making headlines since its release in theatres.

The horror film, directed by Damien Leone, has sparked intense reactions from audiences during its recent UK premiere.

During the screening, 11 people reportedly walked out, with nine leaving within the opening scene alone. One viewer even reported vomiting due to the film’s graphic content.

Cinemas across the UK have responded by issuing warnings about the movie’s intense violence and gore. 

Some theatres have gone as far as posting signs advising patrons to seek help if they start feeling sick or light-headed, with trained staff on hand for assistance. 

A Terrifier fan posted a picture of “Customer Notice” displayed at a UK theatre.

The notice reads, “Due to the nature of this film, we would like to inform customers that if they start to feel queasy or light-headed during the showing of Terrifier 3, so please come speak to a member of staff.”

“We will be able to sort you a seat and a cup of water.”

Social media users reacted to the Twitter post, sharing that they had also noticed similar warning signs at their local cinemas.

A fan posted, “See now you’re forcing me to watch this!” 

Another one chimed in, “Best cinema experience this year, y’all are some damn mad people. Post viewing I feel like I’ve necked Absinthe. What a buzz.”

A third user remarked, “This is priceless advertising. The last movie with these types of stats I saw at least 10 years ago hasn’t left my memory. Therefore I now must see this movie.”

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has rated Terrifier 3 for viewers 18 and over, pointing to its “extreme violence” and “bloody detail” as reasons for the age restriction.

The film follows Art the Clown, played by David Howard Thornton, as he terrorizes siblings Sienna and Jonathan Shaw. Director Damien Leone has acknowledged that the film’s opening scene is especially brutal, claiming it’s more shocking than anything seen in previous Terrifier films.

Over in France, the movie has been banned for viewers under 18, a decision that hasn’t been made since Saw 3.

One viewer described “fighting for her life” while watching Terrifier 3 and even claimed her Apple Watch kept buzzing throughout the movie, alerting her that her heart rate was dangerously high.

Terrifier 3 is currently playing in theatres.
