First Shrek 5 teaser reveals new ‘disappointing’ animation style that fans have mixed feelings about

PublishedLast updated

Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation’s first look reveal for Shrek 5 is here!

Although the original cast is returning to voice the iconic characters, along with Spider-Man and Dune star Zendaya, who joins as Shrek’s daughter, fans aren’t too chuffed with the animation style.

Most reactions so far suggest that original fans would like the studio to still release Shrek 5, which releases December next year, just with the animation style seen in previous instalments.

You can watch the official reveal below.

“Was it that hard to keep the original animation?!” one wrote.

“They butchered my man,” another added.

“That is not Shrek,” a third said.

Some fans compared the new animation style to the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie’s first look reveal, which led to fans campaigning for the blue speedster to return to the drawing room.

However, Paramount Pictures listened and came back with a more game-inspired visual for Sonic, which led to a very successful debut that sparked an entire franchise.

“Let’s do it what we did to Sonic, guys… we can do it!” one fan chimed in.

“We need to sonic this.”

Not all fans are against the idea of introducing a new animation style.

“Yeah unpopular opinion already but the animation ain’t that bad, definitely will take time getting used to for sure but I love how expressive they are,” one expressed.

“It’s both good and not good at the same time and Idl why ahahha,” another joked.
