Shrek 5 has finally released its highly anticipated teaser, which introduces Zendaya as the voice of Shrek and Fiona’s daughter. But fans feel something is off about her.
The short teaser, under 30 seconds, has already sparked debate. Some are criticizing the animation style, while others are fixated on the theory that Shrek’s daughter is trans.
In Shrek the Third, we meet Shrek and Fiona’s triplet kids: Felicia (the only girl) and her brothers, Fergus and Farkle.

Felicia originally had blue eyes, while her brothers had brown.
But in the Shrek 5 teaser, Shrek’s daughter, voiced by Zendaya, has brown eyes, leading some to speculate that one of the brothers transitioned.
A fan on X posted, “Not to be a Shrek nerd, but I’m sure Felicia is the only girl out of the ogre triplets and she has blue eyes. That means either Fergus or Farkle transitioned, let’s go?”
Another one added, “Either they gave her brown contacts, or that’s actually Shrek’s trans daughter.”
A third user said, “Just realised that Shrek’s daughter is trans cuz [sic] the only girl… has blue eyes while the 2 boys have brown eyes.”
“Shrek having a trans daughter was not on my bingo card,” a different one snarked.
However, many were quick to dismiss this theory.
Some pointed out that babies often start with blue eyes that darken over time.
Professor Burton Kushner from the University of Wisconsin-Madison explained that “melanin is not fully developed in newborn babies, so the iris is relatively devoid of whatever melanin pigment it will have, and that gives the eye its baby-blue eye colour”.
Others chalked it up to DreamWorks simply “forgetting” Felicia’s original eye colour; after all, the last Shrek movie was 15 years ago.
