Will Smith fans convinced he’s joining The Matrix franchise following cryptic video post

Bad Boys star Will Smith has left his fans wondering what his latest cryptic social media post was about after he posted a Matrix-related video to his page.

The actor posted a clip to his 70 million followers similar to the 1999 movie The Matrix, famously starring Keanu Reeves as Neo, the franchise’s main character.

In the original clip, Neo can be seen waking up next to a computer to be met with a message on the screen saying, “Wake up Neo… The Matrix has you…”

“Follow the White Rabbit. Knock Knock, Neo.”

Smith has recreated the computer part of the original scene with a 30-second clip, adding his version, and it’s safe to say fans aren’t too happy with what he’s implying.

“In 1997, the Wachowskis offered Will Smith the role of Neo in The Matrix. Smith turned it down.”

“He chose Wild Wild West, believing it was a better fit for him at the time.”

“But the question remains: What would The Matrix have been like with Will Smith as Neo? Wake up, Will… The Matrix has you.”

Smith previously turned down the role adding that he would of “ruined it” and “messed it up” in a 2019 video posted to his YouTube.

“I’m not proud of it, but it’s the truth: I did turn down Neo in The Matrix.”

He went on to describe the pitch he was given by the Wachowskis, the directors of The Matrix and added that “Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne was perfect.”

“If I had done it, because I’m black then Morpheus wouldn’t of been black coz they was looking at Val Kilmer Morpheus.”

“So I probably would of messed The Matrix up, I would of ruined it, so i did y’all a favour.”

The Matrix and Keanu Reeves fans have shared their thoughts below adding that “there couldn’t have been anyone better than Keanu [Reeves] for the role.”

“Sorry, but Keanu is Neo no one can be Neo never and ever.”

“Perhaps we can reboot it and he [Will Smith] can disappear,” another said.

Some fans still express their hatred for the last movie pleading to just “let it die”

“Hell no. After the last Matrix movie, all I want to do is just let it die with dignity.”

“Having his wife [Jada Pinkett Smith] in them was bad enough,” another added.
