Just a week after the tragic death of filmmaker Jeff Baena, actor Aubrey Plaza has taken the drastic step of deleting her Instagram account.

When searching for Plaza’s Instagram account, users are now met with the message, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”

Earlier this month, Jeff was found dead at a residence in Los Angeles.

Medical examiner records confirmed that Jeff Baena’s death was officially ruled a suicide, with no additional causes or suspicious circumstances reported.

In a statement addressing the tragedy, Aubrey Plaza’s representative said:

“This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”

Plaza was also unable to fulfil her presenting duties at the 82nd Golden Globes, which took place shortly after the loss.

She had been scheduled to present on January 3, the same day Los Angeles County officials confirmed Jeff Baena had died in a Los Feliz home.

Although Plaza didn’t attend the Golden Globes on January 5, The Brutalist director Brady Corbet acknowledged both her and Jeff during his acceptance speech for Best Director.

Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena shared a relationship that spanned over a decade before secretly tying the knot in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown. The couple collaborated on films like Life After Beth, The Little Hours, and Spin Me Round.

In a December 2021 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Plaza described their wedding as a spontaneous and informal ceremony conducted online, yet deeply meaningful.

She said, “I just said, ‘Hey, it’s our 10-year anniversary. We should do something - get an ice cream cone and do something special,'” she added.

“And then I joked about getting married. And he’s like, ‘Well, we probably couldn’t get married that fast.’ And I said, ‘Well wouldn’t it be nice to get married on our actual anniversary?’ And then I Googled it, and I found 1HourMarriage.com.”

“And then I called around 5 p.m., and I said, ‘Can you come in an hour and marry me in our yard?’ And he said, ‘How about tomorrow?’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s not what you’re advertising.'”
