Here’s who’s playing Jason Voorhees in upcoming prequel Sweet Revenge

It’s been over a decade and a half since horror fans last saw Jason Voorhees in an official Friday the 13th movie.

The 2009 reboot, directed by Marcus Nispel, introduced Derek Mears as one of the few actors to wear the hockey mask on screen.

Now, 16 years later, the slasher legend is finally making a comeback.

Jason’s return comes in the form of Sweet Revenge, a 13-minute short from the newly launched Jason Universe, a fresh banner from the franchise’s rights holders that finally clears the way for Jason’s return after years of legal deadlock.

Set to debut on August 13, the project marks the franchise’s first sanctioned on-screen appearance for the killer since 2009.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the man stepping into the role is stunt performer and actor Schuyler White.

Known for holding 11 Guinness World Records for fire stunts, White already had a working history with director Mike P. Nelson after collaborating on the 2021 Wrong Turn reboot.

White’s résumé spans both sides of the camera. He’s contributed special effects work to films like Don’t Breathe 2, Queen & Slim, No One Gets Out Alive, Escape Plan: The Extractors, and the upcoming NEON horror Shelby Oaks.

With Sweet Revenge, White joins the small but iconic roster of performers who have officially played Jason Voorhees, a list that features Ari Lehman, Richard Brooker, Ted White, Kane Hodder, and Derek Mears.

The short will premiere both online via the @JasonUniverse13 YouTube channel and at a special live event.
