Snow White gets ‘real dwarfs’ in live-action horror adaptation following Disney backlash

Following Disney’s controversial 2025 live-action reimagining of the beloved 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, it seems another Snow White is coming.

However, this time, it is from The Horror Collective with a gory adaptation titled The Death of Snow White, and yes, this time, the dwarfs are real.

Described as a story set “after the mysterious death of Snow White, her closest friends embark on a journey to uncover the truth behind her demise.”

This new take on Snow White, which releases in theatres on April 18, comes amid the ongoing trend of turning public domain childhood characters into slasher icons.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey can be thanked for blowing the trend sky-high after it became evidently clear that low-budget horror adaptations with high enough interest could make a financial profit.

Long story short, whether you like it or not, this new trend is garnering more and more interest as the years go on.

One trailer post for The Death of Snow White on YouTube sits at 1.5 million views via Real Fiction Studios’ YouTube channel.

Horror fans and Snow White fans alike took to the comment section to show support, following the recent disappointment they experienced with Disney’s live-action remake starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot.

“Finally, a gitter snow white with the seven dwarves being REAL DWARVES. Also, it’s nice seeing female dwarves in the group and not just male dwarves,” one wrote.

“Looks way better than Disney’s,” another added.

“The new Disney version has a 2.2 out of 10 rating on IMDB, cost nearly $300 million dollars to produce and only pulled $43 million on opening weekend,” a third chimed in.

“This one will ultimately make more of a profit and likely have a higher audience rating than the Disney flop lol,” they continued.

“This looks significantly better than the lastest Disney live action Snow White,” a fourth said.

“Looking forward to this one for sure… looking much better than many of the other “public domain” films that have been coming out… Just my opinion,” a fifth cheered.
